The Adventure of Super Mario Bros. 3 Episode 17 - Mush-Rumors Overview

The seventeenth episode of "The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3" called Mush-Rumors aired on November 3rd, 1990 in the US on NBC. This episode starts off with a family on their way to an amusement park. However, they end up getting lost and going through a warp zone which leads them to Mushroom Kingdom. The two children, Missy and Bud, are bewildered after looking at their surroundings but their mom calms them down.

Norman, who is the father, thinks they are in Iowa and try to find a local gas station to ask for directions but, being distracted, he accidentally crashes. Trying to get the car on the road again, Norman loses control of the car and almost hits a nearby mushroom boy who perceives the car out to be a monster and runs off. Eventually the cars crashes again and when Norman exits the vehicle to check the engine, the mushroom boy from before catches sight of this and runs away thinking aliens have come.

The mushroom boy soon runs into Hip and Hop Koopa who is still claiming that aliens are coming. Hip and Hop are frightened by this information and go to Castle Koopa screaming that aliens are coming. They run into Bully Koopa and explain to him what is coming. However, the story is getting more and more exaggerated each time someone explains what is going on. Eventually, the story spreads throughout the koopalings until Kootie Pie mentions what is happening to King Bowser. He then says that he will have to stop them before they get to him.

Meanwhile, the mushroom boy is still running around saying aliens are coming. The mushroom people start to panic and Mario and Luigi notices this. After a while, they come to a pretty good conclusion of what the mushroom boy really saw. However, King Bowser is going to attack the family, who are aliens in his mind. Mario and Luigi intervenes but King Bowser still manages to capture the family and take them back to Castle Koopa. Now, Mario and Luigi must go to save the family and send them in the right direction out of Mushroom Kingdom and back into the real world.
